The annual coffee morning was held in the gardens of Tatterford Grange on a damp, grey morning of Saturday 18th June. Despite the weather, the turnout was excellent and a very pleasant, neighbourly morning was had by all.
The event was arranged under two marquees and included stalls of clothing, plants, books, cakes and bric-a-brac. The raffle and tombola both proved popular, as did the bacon butties and refreshments. The morning raised just over £800 and for the first time this year not all the proceeds go to St Margaret’s Church. A donation of £100 is to be made to Cancer Research UK.
The history of this event goes back to 1979, when a garden fete was held. A fete, later becoming a coffee morning, was organised annually by Mrs Edna Barnes and then her daughter and son-in-law, Gill and Phil Buck. For the last three years it has been held in the grounds of Tatterford Grange and now has an organising committee, to ensure the morning runs smoothly.
